We make volunteering work — for everyone
Strengthening Charleston through the power of volunteerism
When I reflect on my journey in the nonprofit sector, I have seen time and again how the generosity of people—sharing their time, skills, and hearts—can spark extraordinary change. At MUSC Children’s Hospital, a volunteer program grew from a handful of individuals into hundreds who not only supported hospital operations but also brought comfort and joy to children and families.
At Reading Partners South Carolina, I watched students’ faces light up when a volunteer helped them put words together for the first time, and I have seen volunteers rally entire communities—whether advocating for safer streets or raising thousands of dollars through initiatives like the Children’s Hospital license plate.
These experiences affirmed that volunteers are not simply “nice to have,” but essential infrastructure for thriving communities, and this conviction inspired me to establish Good Strategies.
Guided by this belief—and by a deeper calling to encourage us all to love our neighbors—I envision a Charleston where every resident can engage in meaningful service and every nonprofit can fully harness the immense value of human capital to strengthen organizations and transform communities.
