  • American Lung Association South Carolina In South Carolina, youth vaping rates are nearly double the national average, with 21.2% of high school students reporting use. To combat this crisis, the Lung Association in South Carolina launched the Backpacks for Bright Futures initiative. It provides free backpacks with school supplies and educational materials on vaping dangers to students, aiming to educate families and reduce youth vaping rates.

    is a non-profit human service agency serving the citizens of Berkeley County. The Berkeley County Family YMCA opened in 1994 and since then it has strived to provide low cost programs for families.

    The mission of Blissful Dreams Rescue Ranch is to share the love and gospel of Jesus Christ through therapeutic horseback riding and animal related activities for children and adults struggling with psychological, emotional, physical, and relational challenges while using formerly abused, neglected, and abandoned horses and dogs.

  • Chase After a Cure (CAAC) was started in 2009 by Summerville, S.C., resident Whitney Ringler and her family after her son, Chase, was given a 30 percent chance of survival after being diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma. Chase survived this aggressive form of cancer and now his family works tirelessly on behalf of childhood cancer research. CAAC supports families of childhood cancer patients, raises awareness about childhood cancer, specifically neuroblastoma, and funds childhood cancer research at the Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital.

    Carolina Children’s Charity has been a community organization from the very beginning. The Charity was created by local volunteers committed to meeting the needs of local children with birth defects and/or childhood diseases.

    With the dedication and commitment of the Tri-County Fire Chiefs Association, WCBD NBC 2, Lowcountry firefighters, and many other local groups, we are able to assist thousands of Lowcountry families when their child is diagnosed with a birth defect and/or childhood disease.

    We promote physical and mental wellness among cancer survivors and their community through dragon boating.

    P.A.T.H. 

    Paddle. Achieve. Transform. Heal.

    P.A.T.H. is DBC’s free outreach program for cancer patients and survivors in the local communities of Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties. Participants enjoy a private group setting learning the basics of dragon boating and creating support for one another.  The program begins with an orientation session followed by group training sessions.

    Our mission is to advance prevention, detection, treatment and rehabilitation of oral, head and neck cancer through public awareness, research, advocacy and survivorship.

  • Holy City WellBeing (HCWB) is a 501c (3) nonprofit organization serving the state of South Carolina and beyond with Mental Wellness Trainings (WRAP). We provide a path of planning through mental wellness trainings, workshops and activities that address workplace burnout, early childhood trauma depression, anxiety, coping skills, grieving, awareness of triggers and stressors, previous crisis, self-care, family mental health challenges and decision making.

  • Hoofprints in the Sand (HITS)

    Hoofprints in the Sand is organized and operated to empower and support those, especially Veterans, suffering from traumatic brain injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as their families, through equine-assisted therapy and outdoor activities, and rehabilitative and therapeutic healing programs.

    As a nationally accredited Children’s Advocacy Center, our main goal is to ensure that children disclosing abuse are not further victimized by the intervention systems designed to protect them. This is why we offer child-focused, evidence-based programs, which work closely with representatives from many other disciplines to effectively investigate, prosecute, and treat child abuse. At Kay Phillips Child Advocacy Center, whether a child visits our center once for their initial forensic interview, or they visit us weekly for therapy services, one thing remains true – they will NEVER receive a bill for services that are provided. This means that cost never gets in the way of a child’s path toward hope, healing, and empowerment.

    The South Carolina Harm Reduction Coalition engages in grassroots advocacy, resource development, coalition building, and statewide messaging to improve the lives and safety of people who use drugs. We offer guidance to other groups who may be interested in learning and implementing harm reduction interventions.

  • UPLIFT is a free monthly program by The Lonon Foundation for ages 5-17 and runs from August-May.

    UPLIFT monthly activities focus on play and mindfulness, and help children build friendships with those who share similar experiences. UPLIFT’s activities and materials empower families by giving them the tools to cope with the stress, fear, confusion, and anxieties related to a parent’s cancer diagnosis.

  • The Access Health Tri-County Network (AHTN) was developed in 2010, with support from Access Health SC and The Duke Endowment, and is comprised of 27 partners providing a wide range of healthcare and health-related services that work to provide uninsured residents in the Tri-County region with a coordinated approach to access to healthcare.  The Network partners consist of hospitals, free clinics, healthcare centers, outreach providers, Department of Mental Health, local health department and volunteer primary care/specialty care providers.

    The mission of AccessHealth Tri-County Network is to coordinate a sustainable provider network of care for low-income, uninsured residents in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties.

    The objectives of the network are focused on appropriate client referral, navigation to a medical home and specialists’ services and use of health information technology that allows for shared health information and electronic health records. The Network’s clients and partners voluntarily participate in the program.

    Volunteers with the Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center find a rewarding experience as they join us in our mission to support the recovery of people with mental illness.

    We have a variety of exciting volunteer opportunities including:

  • Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic

    We are a free clinic in Charleston, SC. At Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic, we treat patients for all of their primary care health needs, including diabetes, hypertension, coronary disease, depression, and more. Our on-going primary care is provided to our patients just like any typical family practice, but at no cost.

  • The Dream Center Clinic (DCC) is a faith-based free medical clinic. Our purpose is to provide routine, outpatient health and wellness services to the medically underserved residents of North Charleston, Hanahan, Goose Creek and West Ashley in South Carolina.

    The primary focus is on uninsured families, whose income is below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). The DCC relies on medical and non-medical volunteers to provide services at the clinic during hours that are convenient to our patients.

  • ECCO Dental Services East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) provides a range of dental procedures and services for uninsured adults each year – all at no cost to the patient. Through our partnership with the MUSC College of Dental Medicine and Trident Technical College of Dental Hygiene, we are able to provide preventative and restorative care, as well as extractions through our Extraction Clinic. Last year, we provided more than $532,000 worth of dental care to nearly 700 neighbors.

  • Fetter Health Care Network has been proud to provide access to quality, affordable care throughout the Lowcountry. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we are dedicated to supporting insured, uninsured and underserved residents in Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton and Dorchester Counties.

  • Fisher House Charleston, at 150 Wentworth Street, in the heart of Charleston welcomed its first guests in January 2018 into a massive 15,000 square feet, 16 bedroom home-away-from-home in the heart of Charleston’s historical downtown. We couldn’t have asked for a better location to be a solace for familes with loved ones being treated at Charleston’s Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center.

  • Harvest Free Medical Clinic

    Harvest Free Medical Clinic is a 501c3 non-profit organization, founded in 2003. It has been the joy of the clinic to serve the greater Charleston community for over 20 years!

It is the express purpose of the EMS Council to assist in the development of emergency health care systems within EMS Region IV of South Carolina, and to increase the accessibility and continuity of the overall quality of health care in the Lowcountry Region of South Carolina.

    Insure SC is a one-stop shop to enroll and get information about health coverage options including Medicaid, Medicare, Marketplace, and private insurance. All services are free.

    It is the first nonprofit insurance agency in South Carolina and the second in the nation. Revenue generated strengthens our impact in financial stability and work readiness.

    Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are small, portable electronic devices used to restore normal heart rhythm to people in cardiac arrest. AEDs are safe and easy to use, making it possible for non-medical personnel to be trained to provide rapid defibrillation.
