Key Insights from Our Community Engagement Survey

We're excited to share the results of our recent Community Engagement Survey, which offers valuable insights into the motivations, barriers, and expectations of volunteers in the Charleston area.

What We Learned from the Survey

The survey revealed a strong desire to contribute to charitable organizations, with a remarkable 97% of respondents believing their time and talents could make a difference. It was inspiring to see that so many people in our community are motivated by the following reasons to volunteer:

  • Building meaningful relationships with others

  • Making a positive impact in the community

  • Improving mental and physical health through volunteering

While the desire to volunteer is strong, our survey also revealed some key barriers that prevent people from volunteering more regularly. These included:

  • Time constraints due to busy schedules

  • Burnout from previous volunteer experiences

  • Difficulty finding suitable opportunities that align with personal interests and availability

We believe these challenges shouldn’t stop anyone from experiencing the joy and fulfillment that comes with giving back. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce two exciting new resources designed to address these barriers and make volunteering easier and more accessible. The first is an - a easy-to-use nonprofit directory found on the header of our website features a drop down list to a wide variety of organizations by category —many of which may not be widely known, and the second resource is a calendar of events that serves as a central hub for all upcoming community events, nonprofit activities, fundraisers, and volunteer opportunities. Both can be found on our website

We’re excited to see these tools help connect more people with causes they care about, and we hope they inspire even more individuals to get involved and make a lasting impact.
